Internet collaboration still in infancy

I’m about half way through Wikinomics, by Don Tapscott and Anthony Williams and came across this article today. The age of public collaboration over the Internet is still only in its infancy, Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales told AFP in an interview. The 42-year-old web guru, in an effort to show Wikipedia’s impact thus far, referenced…

Writing your LinkedIn Profile Summary

A close friend asked me for some thoughts on writing a LinkedIn profile. I noticed on someone else’s profile that they had put their Summary in the third person. I had done that with mine, but now I am about to start a serious excursion on looking for a new job. Should I re-write my…

Identify Shoppers by Past Purchases… and by Sight

One of the memorable scenes in the Minority Report (Tom Cruise), a Gap billboard mis-identifies Cruise’s character by the “donated” implanted eyeballs he is “wearing.” “[Cruise] walks into a shopping mall, where his new eyes are scanned with a telltale spark. Mistaking him for the eyeballs’ former owner, a nearby Gap billboard exclaims, “Hello, Mr….

Twitter co-founder on Obama text strategy

Short and rather shallow piece on Twitter and political communication strategy. I was hoping for some more in-depth thoughts from the founder of Twitter, but then again, Cavuto didn’t really ask heavy questions. This is the equivalent of a tiny McDonald’s hamburger — fast-food business television. Somewhat interesting nevertheless. I went ahead and added Obama…

Randy Pausch Lecture: Time Management

Brand new dad

I’m taking a week off from Marketing and web to develop some new skills — being a dad! The boy and mom are both healthy.

Looking forward to the Garmin Nuvifone

Glenn Reynolds mentions the new Garmin Nuvifone slotted to be released the 3rd quarter of ’08 — it looks awesome!! “Pretty cool” is right! My wife and I live on the Garmin Nuvi for finding our way around. This would totaly cement my geek-reputation. I’m going to have to see if I can get myself…

Back in business…

Helo! If you’ve been here recently, you may have noticed some technical difficulties going on. I’ve been pretty consumed with a lot of things recently, leaving me with little time to dedicate to the blog. But now that I finished my MBA, got settled in my new job and got done with my travels and…

Protecting Your Personal Brand Online

Your Facebook profile may cost you a job or promotion. In one University of Dayton survey of employers, 40 percent of respondents said they’d consider Facebook data when making hiring decisions. So while social- network lies might not immediately cost you a job, they could come back to haunt you. “We don’t know how long…

Lessons in poverty from Ejovi

This is a tough thing to do, I know. How do you make progress when you are surrounded by people who have no interest in change? You leave. I find that many times progress comes not just from leaving something behind, but facing new challenges and interacting with different people each time you go someplace…
